Lola's Blessing

On her 6 week birthday, Sunday, September 18th, Lola Jennie Miller was given a name and a blessing. We went down to Santa Maria since all of our family is down that-a-way. We left Saturday night after Matt got off work, and arrived in Santa Maria at 4 AM. Church starts at 9 AM...so you can understand my puffy eyes & haggard appearance in the pictures :) The girls were both perfect on the drive down which makes it worth driving at night.
Matt blessed Lola with love, health, strength, the ability to overcome trials, bring others to the truth, and discern between good & evil.
...
With Matt's parents, Diana & Marc
4 generations!
Nana, Becca, Bobba, Liz, Devin, Kara, Lola, Matt, Nonnie, & Ada (who desperately wanted to go to Nursery, NOT take pictures)
All of the men (minus Matt's brother Ryan, his family had to leave to make it to their Primary Program in 1st Ward)
who were in the circle to bless sweet Lola!
Devin, Bobba, Marc, Lola, Matt, & Daddy
I love this one of Matt & Marc with Lola smiling at them.

P-O-O-P

Sunday was Dry Council Sunday in our ward. The first guy, Bro. Mankins, was great. He told a story about having to crash land at VAFB...it was neat! He totally kept our attention the whole time.
Then the second guy got up. We didn't even have an intermediate hymn, which is torture. So he starts, and was talking in the softest voice! We could barely hear him. So I'm bored and start writing on Matt's back. He is REALLY bad at that game. He'll guess so many times, but is so stubborn that he won't let me tell him what it is!
So me, being the mature 24-year-old that I am, started writing a word on his back. He was NOT getting it! So I'm writing it slower and slower...until I hear a voice whisper behind me, "PEE....OH....OH.....PEEEEE!!!!" I turned bright red and turned around -- it was an investigator sitting with the missionaries! Ahhhhhh!
Everything about the situation was hilarious...the bald man speaking in a soft, monotone voice at the pulpit...the glazed over looks of the congregation....the skinny, long-haired investigator who knew the answer to Matt's back writing....oh boy.
It took everything in my power to not burst out in laughter!
Then, when the man concluded his talk, a little red-haired boy that we adore said (probably louder than he intended), "FINALLY!"
Quite a comedic Sacrament Meeting if you ask me :)

Feeling Pretty Crafty!

Last Saturday was 2nd Ward's Super Saturday!
They were kind enough to invite us 3rd Warders for the fun :)

This is what I am most proud of! I LOVE IT!!!
We didn't have any Thanksgiving decor, so I'm glad there is one thing I can hang on the wall now.

This little plate was too cute to pass up.
I can just picture Christmas cookies on it now!

This one is kind of hard to see. It's a 9x13 pan that I etched our last name into the bottom. So neat!
I won't ever lose a pan again! Unless someone else named Miller takes it...

Question: Do you guys think that this vinyl craze is just a phase?? Like will our kids look back on this stuff and go, "Mom! That's so 2008!!! Gross!"

New Calling!

Yesterday I was sustained as the Primary teacher for the 7-year-olds! I am SO excited! They are so sweet. I have a little boy who is hard of hearing, and Christina Christiansen will be signing for him while I teach. How neat is that?
Yesterday in Sharing Time, they held up a picture of the Salt Lake City Temple.

A little girl in my class jumped up and yelled, "THE PRESIDENT'S HOUSE!!!"
It was awesome.

It's so funny to me that my work life mirrors my church calling or vice versa.
Job Calling
Claims Assistant @ a Worker's Comp Office    Librarian

Instructional Assistant - Jr. High     Personal Progress Leader in Young Women

Cool parallels huh?
