Millers Visit

Matt's parents came up to visit us last month and see our new home here in Santa Cruz! 

Ada showed them around town.

We took them to Steamer Lane, where a junior surfing competition was going on. They make it look so easy!

They took us out to lunch on the wharf and then treated us to Mexican for dinner because I was too tired to cook. We all had colds and were wiped out! 

Thank you for coming Marc & Diana! And for watching Ada while I went to the adult session of Stake Conference.

On Matt's day off we went to Guadalupe for a photo shoot. I don't like the crazy waves & riptides there...so I offered to take pictures with Brandin's awesome zoom lens (thanks buddy)!

Such a stud! I was pretending he was a pro surfer and I was a pro photog at the competition. He said, "How did I do?" I replied, "Oh, you won the title."

Beach Time!

We went surfing at Pismo yesterday. It was FREEZING! I could see my breath while in the water. Matt said I went up 100 cool points for getting in the water that day. Ha! It wasn't so bad -- it was just getting out of my huge eskimo jacket and into my damp wetsuit. Brrrrr. It was really fun though! I found my own little place and named it Kara's Break in true Marc Miller fashion ;) I'm getting better (and less sore) each time I go.

Matt & I met up with his dad at Pismo on Sat. morning. So early. I fought getting out of my warm cozy bed...but it was such a good day out in the water! Definitely worth it :)

P.S. I just got some booties and they are AWESOME! I'm such a ninja in them.

Wrapping Up Summer...

On the 9th we went to Hurricane Harbor! It was SO FUN! 

Chris Drake (our cousin), Lindsay, Me, Matt, & Marc (my father-in-law) all went.

We had so much fun, my favorite is the giant Tornado!

Then this past Saturday, Matt and I went surfing at Pismo! 

Excited to go! I think Matt looks SO cute in his wetsuit!! It cracks me up, he's like a little kid in his pajamas. 

Pretty sure I was jumping around saying something like, "I'm like a seal! I'm so rubbery and warm!"

It was a perfect day, not too big (for me, Matt could've stood bigger), no wind, glassy...I'm getting better! I do have a gnarly bruise on my upper butt/thigh from my fins hitting me on one wipeout though. I'll spare you all the pain of a picture ;)

After we were done surfing, we met my mom, sister, and Wiberg at Avila Beach...it was beautiful! 

Matt overheard some tourists from France; he played frisbee & spoke French with them, they were fun! I told the little girl she was pretty in my elementary French, but she understood me! She was adorable - check out the curls (and Thibault's shirt)!

Then we left the beautiful beach when the sun was setting and headed back to Pismo for some fabulous Splash Cafe clam chowder! 

Yummmm. It was a good day. Goodbye summer...until next year :(
