Will we have a Princess Peach? Or a Prince Peach?!
Millions of peaches, peaches for me.

Anyone remember this song? Ah throwback to 5th grade! :)

For The Sake of Documentation...
Here are pictures of me at 3 months 4 days pregnant. Saturday was a beautiful, sunny, warm day here in Santa Maria. We ordered sandwiches at Spencer's then headed to Waller Park to eat and relax. After a rough morning that prevented us from driving to Los Angeles for our Ward's Temple Day, I needed some fresh air!
Lindsay cut my hair while she was in town, I love it! She always does such a great job. I'm getting closer to all my natural color now!
There's a baby in there!
It felt strange posing like this...I don't feel like I'm showing enough yet! It just looks like I had a big meal. I'm still wearing my normal clothes; I wonder how long that will last. Haha!
My sweet hubs. He has been so wonderful during these past months! He's done the dishes, cleaned out the fridge, gone without home-cooked meals, made midnight runs to the grocery store, brought me anything I need, and been my number one supporter and friend throughout everything. What a guy :)

Little Plum!
These make me happy. The only one I haven't liked was week 10...a prune. Ick!
I like having an idea of how big the baby is growing inside of me.
Whatever fruit it is that week, I refer to it as that.
"Little plum, why are you making mommy so tired today?"
"Plum baby...please don't make momma throw up again today. I love you."

We're Having A Baby, My Baby & Me!
It's true...Matt & I are going to be parents!
We told my Nana yesterday with an ultrasound picture and a great-grandma poem in a frame. She opened it, re-read the poem, looked at the picture, opened the card, looked up at me and asked, "Is this an announcement?!" I nodded, then she said, "Everyone, look! Matt and Kara are going to have a baby!" And showed the ultrasound picture to everyone. It was perfect :) Bobba said, "I thought that was a cat!" It was hilarious!
We then proceeded to call the Drakes in Kansas and Georgia to share the wonderful news. My mom, dad, sister, and brother, along with Matt's immediate family, have known since March when we found out. We decided to wait to tell everyone else once we were in the safe zone just in case I miscarried. We also wanted to tell Nana in a big way :) She told me that last week she had a dream of me with a baby, but didn't tell me because she knows how bad I want to be a mom. She called this morning and said she could hardly sleep last night because she was thinking about this baby. She thanked me for making her a great-grandma! I am three months along and the due date is November 24th.
Here is a video I put together of the first ultrasound. We think a tripod might be a good investment ;)

My 25th Birthday(s)!
I am now a quarter of a century old! It feels great, I don't feel old or anything...even though Lindsay and Matt call me grandma! I had a wonderful month of celebrating. That's how we do in our family! Stretch it out :)
Part of my birthday was seeing BILLY JOEL & Elton John! I've wanted to see Billy since I was a little girl. My dad raised us singing his songs...so he has always been a favorite of mine. One big check off the bucket list. (My last birthday I checked off skydiving!)
Here Billy he is rocking the arena!
Well, maybe not these guys. Seriously, who comes to a concert and SLEEPS?!
This picture cracks me up. I am the worst at taking pictures of myself with my iPhone. It's hard! Look at my hand...I was really trying to get a good shot! haha
Billy again...sigh. :) I couldn't stop screaming when he came on stage. I was belting out all of his songs!
Elton! He had so many costume changes and did like a 20 min. version of Rocketman!
This was the best concert of my life! Our tickets said, "Limited View" on them, but our seats were GREAT! We got to see the band doing their thing, and felt like we were right on top of the stage. Billy even said, "You guys up there - those seats aren't as bad as you thought, huh?! And you guys down here on the floor...look up. That's about 2 tons of lights being held up by little cables. With some technicians who haven't had a break in a few hours." It was funny :) I was really impressed with how grateful they both were to be doing what they do. They obviously love it and expressed their thanks to everyone there for making it possible! Billy even introduced every single one of his band members by name and where they were from. Pretty neat!
These little loves came in the mail right on my birthday!
Can you guess which one came from my sister in Utah and which came from my grandpa in Virginia? That raccoon cracked me up ;)
On April 6th, Matt took me to Santa Barbara to go to the new Melting Pot! It was fabulous. So. Much. Food. I've been to the one in Salt Lake City with my mom, sister, and Shannon & Mitch. Matt had never partaken in the excitement of cooking your own food and the yummy cheese and chocolate fondue!
I am posting these pictures because of the sheer awkwardness of them.
Here I am, trying to avoid the steam and looking painfully forced.
Then Matt magically turned into a one-eyed pirate during his photo-op!
A man and his feast :)
We also had a family birthday party, but I don't have any pictures of it :( We celebrated at Nana's on Easter! It was so wonderful, ham & cheesy potatoes...what more could a girl want? To top it off - Devin & Liz did an egghunt for us too! Even though we're all big kids :) Everyone scored big time and got lots of dollar bills in the eggs!

Swimsuit Dilemma!
Here I am last summer in my adorable Layers swimsuit. I love it! I actually just wore it to the beach last week. It's high quality and has held up really well. I'm hard on my swimsuits, so if they last more than one summer - I'm sold on that brand! The only thing I didn't like was that it's a wee bit boobalicious. So I went shopping this season for more coverage up top.
I stole this picture from Ginet's blog...this is her daughter, Summer and I jumping over the waves at Avila Beach! She is fearless and loved riding on my boogie board doubled up with me. Her little teeth would be chattering but she'd still want to stay in the water! Reminds me of ME at her age :)
**I need some beach days -- I WILL be that tan again!**
Okay, back to my quest for a great swimsuit.
Enter this lovely little number! Another Layers suit, more coverage up top, cute polka dot print = HAPPY KARA! With my birthday money I ordered this cutie and waited anxiously for it to come in the mail.
The swimsuit never came, but a very sad e-mail did.
"Unfortunately, due to popular demand, the Sandra Dee Top Medium and Sandra Dee Bottoms Medium that you ordered is permanently out of stock. According to our records, we have no immediate plans to replenish our inventory with these products."
What?! I'm no business woman...but if you have DEMAND for something, shouldn't you get more of that something?! Seriously...so I wrote back, "You should update your website...it says that all of the swimsuits are in stock." So that lovely little red SOLD OUT is my doing. She put it up the next day.
If you know me, you know when I get my heart set on something -- I want only that. If I'm in the mood for Mexican food, nothing else will do. So in my head, all I wanted was that Layers suit, and nothing else looked as cute. I went to Macy's, Nordstrom, looked online at Down East, the rest of the Layers swimsuits, and nothing else looked as cute! Until...
I found this on Land's End website! The top comes up a little higher than my current swimsuit, and the sides can be adjusted on both the top and bottom.
It came last night and I LOVE it! I modeled it for Matt and he said I had a 50s butt. We had to clarify that one...he meant the style of bottoms has more coverage, like a 1950s suit. Not that I had a 50-year-old lady butt. Ha!
I would put pictures up of myself in it...but as I said before, I need to get tan! C'mon weather, give us back that gorgeous warmth and sunshine! I'm all ready in my new cute suit! :)
